YOU GOTTA KNOW WHEN TO HOLD EM’, KNOW WHEN TO FOLD EM’, KNOW WHEN TO WALK AWAY, AND KNOW WHEN TO RUN
Good Morning My Loves, Have you ever tried to help someone that doesn't want to be helped, and they simply want to argue with you? Have you ever seen a solution to a problematic situation in a person's life and tried to give them sound advice, and they laughed, or sat there with a silly grin on their face with it going in one ear and out the other? I have, and I've learned to recognize the behavior of a fool. Like Solomon, I've learned to zip my lip, pray for them, and leave them alone! Solomon said it like this:
Proverbs 29:9 (MSG)
9 A sage trying to work things out with a fool
gets only scorn and sarcasm for his trouble.
Proverbs 29:9 AMP)
9 If a wise man has a controversy with a foolish and arrogant man,
The foolish man [ignores logic and fairness and] only rages or laughs, and there is no peace (rest, agreement). Proverbs 29:11 (AMP)
11 A [shortsighted] fool always loses his temper and displays his anger,
But a wise man [uses self-control and] holds it back. I suddenly had these old country lyrics by Kenny Rogers randomly pop in my head: “You gotta know when to hold ‘em
Know when to fold ‘em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run….” It’s actually a song about gambling, which I don’t do, and I don’t recommend (LOL), however as with a bad hand, you’ve gotta know when to walk away from a fool.
Fools always go into a rage, however, sometimes they’ll trick you with grins and laughter. But don’t be deceived, behind that “evil grin,” is a heart bent on doing it’s own thing, and they aren’t listening to a word you say. Be wise, and save your breath for those that will listen. Remember, with a fool there is no peace or agreement, and where there is no peace or agreement, there can be no progress. Wise people don’t waste their time or energy on unproductive things or people. Being wise and strong doesn’t mean you always have to win a battle or an argument, it means you’re strong and mature enough to walk away from nonsense with a cool head and your integrity in tact. Remember, silence is always the best response to a fool. Dale Carnegie says, “You should avoid arguments like earthquakes and rattlesnakes. No one wins in an argument!” Use self control. Keep your mouth shut. Walk away, and by all means, RUN IF YOU NEED TOO! Why? Because if you argue with a fool, you become a fool yourself, and you’re better than that!
I love you all! PV
