Are You Dealing With The Renegade Spirit?
Good Morning My Loves,
How many of you parents have presented the future consequences of disobedience to your children out of love for them? Like myself, I’m sure it was your deep desire that your children would NOT choose those consequences. Any good parent knows that without clear consequences for choosing to disobey, their children will be lawless, rebellious, and allowed to operate with a “renegade” spirit.
The word “renegade” is described as:
noun ren·e·gade:
1. a person who deserts one’s family, faith, covenant partnerships, cause.. and joins with others that oppose it. A TRAITOR, BETRAYER, DESERTER…
2. someone or something that causes trouble, and becomes out of control.
3. an individual who is DISLOYAL, and rejects lawful behavior
When a person has a renegade spirit, they imagine that covenant relationships are ONE-SIDED, requiring their parents, their spouse, their pastors, the government, and GOD, to bless him/her NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO! The renegade knows they are not committed to the individuals from whom they “take,” and quite frankly they don’t care. They have no intention of being loyal, committed, and to serve their family, spouse, political party, or God. They just want to do what they want to do!
The Lord had some very serious consequences for the one who operates with this spirit!
Deuteronomy 29:19 (ERV)
19 “Some people might hear these curses (consequences) and comfort themselves by saying, ‘I will continue doing what I want. Nothing bad will happen to me.’ But that attitude WILL BRING TOTAL DISASTER.
Deuteronomy 29:19-20 (AMP)
19 It will happen that when he (a renegade) hears the words of this oath, and he imagines himself as blessed, saying, ‘I will have peace and safety even though I walk within the stubbornness of my heart [rejecting God and His law],…
20 the Lord will NOT be willing to forgive him, but then the anger of the Lord and His jealousy will burn against that man, and every curse which is written in this book will rest on him; the Lord will blot out his name from under heaven. WOW! That’s some serious consequences!
My beloved, rebellion and operating with a renegade spirit always has a pay day. The consequences don’t change, but we can avoid them by having an attitude adjustment, and changing our choices!
If you are dealing with a renegade spirit in your sphere of influence, you MUST make the consequences clear, and enforce them. You are not being mean, you are being loving. You are loving yourself, your family, your employees, and all those who are affected by the renegade’s bad attitude. You are also loving the renegade. Because if you let them continue down that path without consequences, it will destroy them. Set clear boundaries, and follow through. BE FIRM.
Let’s continue to be loyal to our God. Let’s not allow anything to take our love or loyalty away from Him. When we vacillate in our commitment to Him, it affects all our other covenant relationships. When we are disloyal to our God, it always plays out in disloyalty in all our other relationships. Once that trust is breached, it is very difficult to get it back, however it can be done.
The above scripture references, are from under the Old Covenant, and there was clearly NO HOPE for a renegade. However, because of the precious Blood of Jesus, we now live under a New Covenant. Forgiveness is possible through humility and repentance. That is GOOD NEWS!
Let’s not partner in any way, shape, or form with a renegade spirit. That never goes well!
I love you all! PV
