Been Heartsick? God is Restoring You!
Good Morning My Loves,
For the past month the Lord has been saying, “I’m dealing with the hidden (secret) motives of My people. Heart motives are going to be revealed, purged, and great restoration is going to take place for those who are willing to humble themselves, confess and repent of their faults (sins) to Me and those they’ve hurt, and deal with what I’m showing them with honesty, humility, and a commitment to change.”
In yesterday’s Wisdom Love Letter, the scriptures Romans 12:9-10 literally jumped off the page at me.
9 Love is to be sincere and active [the real thing—without guile and hypocrisy]. Hate what is evil [detest all ungodliness, do not tolerate wickedness]; hold on tightly to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another with [authentic] brotherly affection [as members of one family], give preference to one another in honor; (Romans 12:9-10 AMP)
The Holy Spirit began to highlight the phrases, “sincere and active,” “the real thing,” “without guile and hypocrisy,” “BE DEVOTED TO ONE ANOTHER,” and “authentic brotherly affection.”
Then, as I awoke this morning, the verse of the day on biblegateway.com was:
“The heart is deceitful above all things And it is extremely sick; Who can understand it fully and know its secret motives? “I, the Lord, search and examine the mind, I test the heart, To give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds. (Jeremiah 17:9-10)
God is addressing the “sickness” of hearts in this season. Many of have become heart sick because of personal sin, and others have become heart sick because of the sins of others that have deeply wounded them. Either way, God is bringing healing to hearts. His desire is that we would have “clean hearts.” In this passage the word “heart” is the Hebrew word “labe” which means: the inner man, seat of emotions and passions, heart of moral character, mind, seat of decision making, determination of will, seat of courage, conscience, seat of appetites, inclination, resolution.. It hurts when you find out someone made covenant with you for selfish reasons. They said, “I do.” But they really meant, “I do until I no longer have any use for you, and things get hard. Then, I don’t, I won’t, and I’m outa here and onto the next person that I’ll pretend to BE DEVOTED TO.”
Of course, that’s not what they really say, but deep within the secret places of the heart this scenario continues to play out until this individual allows the truth of God’s word to act as a mirror that shows them they level of deception they’ve been walking in, they repent, receive God’s forgiveness and mercy, and stop that cycle of destruction. In this case, your heart can become “sick” through bitterness, unforgiveness, and the inability to trust anyone. You live with a lens of suspicion that sees everyone as your next betrayer. Those that do love you with sincerity, and without hypocrisy and guile, are held at arms length. Even though they are devoted to you in authentic brotherly love and affection, they’ll continue to miss experiencing the warmth of your heart until it’s healed of the “sickness” of bitterness. It hurts when you realize that your reasons for being in a relationship with your spouse, church family, friends, etc…was for selfish reasons, your heart was in a bad place, and you broke your promises and hurt their hearts by your actions. Irregardless of whether it was your own selfishness, or the selfishness of others, this makes your heart sick. There is GOOD NEWS! GOD IS THE HEALER AND RESTORER OF SICK HEARTS! He's showing us the things that have been deeply rooted in our hearts, and He's bringing healing to those areas. He's restoring His family. He's restoring His Bride. He's restoring you. I love that one of the definitions of “labe” or “heart,” is: seat of courage, and seat of passion. Many of you have felt like you’ve lost your courage and passion in this past season.
Turn to God, get real with Him, get real with yourself, get real with those whom you’ve hurt. Admit your faults, take ownership of them, ask for forgiveness, receive God’s mercy. Forgive yourself! Forgive those that hurt you! Renounce and get rid of those roots of bitterness, selfishness, and offense. This is your season of heart purity, and a brand new season of courage and passion is emerging! You will no longer bear the fruit of a “sick heart,” but the sweet fruit of a “whole” and restored heart!
I love you all! PV
