You Must Let Go of the Bad, and the Mediocre, to Make Room for the Great!
Good Morning My Loves,
Did you know that you need to let go of the “bad,” and the “mediocre” to make room for the “great?” I think sometimes we tend to hang onto things (mindsets, investments, programs, and even people) that hold us back much longer than we should.
With individuals, I’m not saying that we should be unloving, but sometimes we think that one more mentoring session, one more confrontation, one more time of “giving-in” to a person who is unwilling to change will bring the breakthrough that we need. I’ve learned this the hard way. “The breakthrough that you need, comes when you make a decision to no longer tolerate what is destructive to your progress and vision.”
Many times we look at the “giftedness” of an individual and overlook the “destructiveness” of that individual. The truth of the matter is: sometimes no matter what you do to help improve someone’s attitude or performance, they simply are NOT willing to do the work to grow and change.
You cannot change someone else’s mindset, but you can change your own. When you keep thinking the same way, acting the same way, and getting the same destructive results, you must change your way of thinking. You must grow in this area if you are going to move forward. Sometimes that is coming to the reality that trying to move your vision forward with destructive relationships at the core or team level, is like trying to ride or beat a dead horse. It’s doesn’t work.
Paul instructed us to “HOLD ONTO WHAT IS GOOD.” If it’s not good, stop clinging to it!
Romans 12:9-10 (MSG)
9-10 Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good.
Successful people have learned to accept failure as part of the process of stewarding success. When they have to call it quits or prune it off, they see it as a healthy thing and move forward. Other times we look at the small amount of fruit that a program is producing and think, “It’s doing ok. A few people are being blessed by it. It can’t be that bad.” The truth is that you have to prune the mediocre things to make room for the greater things. The fact is that sometimes “things simply need to end.” It’s for the best. If you can accept this as part of keeping your life and business healthy, you will not only survive, but THRIVE. Solomon said that there is a “time-season” for everything in life. The problem lies in trying to hold onto things or people when it’s time to let go. I’m not talking about God ordained covenant relationships, although there is a time to stop grieving after the death of a loved one. There's a season for that, but seasons end.
When we cannot discern the ending of those seasons, or WHEN to end a season, we'll struggle to embrace the greater things that God has for us. There's a right time to begin and end things, and it’s important to be able to discern what season it is: Ecclesiastes 3:5-6 (MSG) There is: A right time to embrace and another to part,
A right time to search and another to count your losses,
A right time to hold on and another to let go, I believe in never letting go of your dreams, but I’ve learned that you must let go of things and people that are killing them.
What are you holding onto that you need to let go of?
I love you all! PV
