Open Your Mouth and Use Your Sword!
Good Morning My Loves,
Did you know that your Bible and the scriptures in it are not a lethal “sword” to the enemy until they are spoken? The scriptures were inspired by the Holy Spirit and written down by men of old. The compilation of those written words are the Greek word “logos.” When Paul tells us to “take” up our “sword of the Spirit” which is the Word of God, he's telling us to “take up the Word of God” from the pages and SPEAK IT OUT LOUD! He uses a different word when speaking of this offensive and defensive piece of armor. He uses the word “rhema.” Ephesians 6:17 (AMP)
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word (rhema) of God.
Rhema, in this context means: to “speak” an individual verse or passage from the written (logos) Word. That which is spoken by a “living voice.”
In other words, "You have to "give voice" to God's "living Word!" When you do, you release the Sword of the Lord and destroy the enemy!
Isaiah 27:1 speaks of God destroying Leviathan (satan) with His mighty sword. Later, in the New Testament, we see Jesus “speaking” the written Word of God to satan when he is tempting him in the wilderness. In both instances satan is defeated by “THE SPOKEN (RHEMA) WORD OF GOD!”
Isaiah 27:1 (AMP)
In that day the Lord will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent
With His fierce and great and mighty sword [rescuing Israel from her enemy],
Even Leviathan the twisted serpent;
And He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea.
Matthew 4:10 (AMP)
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written and forever remains written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’” What I’m trying to drive home here is that, the scriptures become a lethal weapon (sword) when it comes out of a believer’s mouth by faith!
A Roman soldier’s primary battle sword was not a long weapon. It was short “two edged” sword. It was designed for quick thrusts that pierced the enemy through and through. It was not designed to simply cut and wound, but to “puncture” and “kill.” The Word of God that you speak doesn’t have to be “long and drawn out.” It can be short and to the point, but it will destroy the enemy coming and going. It will get down to the “nitty gritty” and get the job done! Hebrews 4:12 (AMP)
12 For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.
To the believer the “Sword of the Lord” is a scalpel in the hands of a skilled surgeon. To the devil the “Sword of the Lord” is a deadly weapon when released from the mouth of a believer. Let’s not lay our Sword down. Let’s open our mouth and speak the Word of God over our situations. The devil has no defense over the Sword of the Lord! When you use it, you ALWAYS WIN! Have a victorious day!
I love you all! PV
